Commercial carpet cleaning for Metro Detroit offices and public buildings

Commercial carpet cleaning cleans up the soil vacuum cleaners leave behind in your Metro Detroit office or public building: spots and traffic lanes are pretreated, then the carpet is extracted. RCO Cleaning has its own extractors and can schedule your job before gray lanes set in and clean overnight or on weekends across Oakland, Wayne and Macomb counties. Schedule your free walkthrough by calling (248) 849-0000.

How is commercial carpet cleaned?

Commercial carpet is cleaned using a three-step process: the carpet is vacuumed using high-powered industrial vacuums, spots and traffic lanes are pretreated so the soil can loosen, and then it's extracted. Extraction machines inject cleaning solution into the carpet and suck it back out along with dissolved soil. The crews work towards the exit so no one walks on wet carpet, and leave the carpet as dry as possible.

Commercial carpet suffers abuse. Dirt picked up on shoes in parking lots is ground into the pile as traffic moves across it, wearing the fibers. Coffee, winter salt residue and oily soils darken hallways and the spaces around workstations, doors and elevators. Vacuuming cleans up the surface soil, but the grit embedded in the fibers requires extraction.

Timeliness is as important as technique. Carpet extracted before it appears dirty will last longer and clean up easier. RCO builds carpet maintenance into your building's cleaning program whether it's office corridors, hotel hallways or church sanctuaries: vacuuming on each visit, spot cleaning when necessary, and extraction of traffic lanes and full carpet at predetermined frequencies based on the traffic volume of each area. Large buildings under an RCO contract get carpet spot cleaning at no charge.

Carpet wet from a leak, a flood or a sewage backup requires drying and possibly removal, which falls under restoration. RCO's sister company RMO Mitigation & Restoration handles it at 248-845-0000.

  • Extraction with RCO's equipment

Extractors rinse carpets with cleaning solution and then suck the dirty water back up. This helps lift soil that vacuuming cannot reach.

  • Scheduled before it shows

Traffic lanes get cleaned on a schedule, preventing the carpet from getting to a point where gray lanes will not come out.

What does commercial carpet cleaning include?

  • Thorough vacuuming

High-powered vacuums remove loose soil before extraction, including along edges and in corners.

  • Spot treatment

Coffee, ink, salt and other spots pre-treated with a product appropriate for the stain and carpet.

  • Traffic lane pretreatment

Gray lanes at entrances, hallways and around desks pre-treated so the soil releases.

  • Extraction

Our extractors rinse the carpet and extract the dirty rinse water. It removes soil that vacuuming misses.

  • Entrance mats and runners

Walk-off mats and runners are cleaned. They will continue to trap dirt at the door.

  • Furniture moving

Chairs and lightweight furniture are moved and put back so that carpet underneath them can be cleaned as well.

  • Salt residue removal

Salt rings near entrances that are white are cleaned out before they become permanent in winter and spring.

How often commercial carpet is typically cleaned

This is a typical routine. Your walkthrough decides the actual one for your building.

  1. 1Every cleaning visit

Traffic areas throughout most office and public buildings vacuumed, including complete vacuuming weekly.

  2. 2As needed

Spot cleaning done as spills or stains appear, hopefully before they set.

  3. 3Quarterly

Extraction of traffic lanes, entrances and elevator lobbies in busy buildings.

  4. 4Once or twice a year

Full extraction of all carpeted areas, depending on traffic.

Commercial carpet cleaning questions

Don’t see yours? Call 248-849-0000 and ask the people who will clean your building.

Who should we hire for commercial carpet cleaning in Metro Detroit?

Contract with a company that has its own extractors, one that cleans traffic lanes before they turn gray and one that has somebody verify the results. RCO Cleaning uses its own extractors and powerful vacuums, cleans overnight or on weekends so the carpet has time to dry before it's walked on and has managers verify the job is done right; call (248) 849-0000.

How long does carpet take to dry?

Typically several hours, but it depends on the carpet, humidity, temperature and airflow. That's why most commercial carpet cleaning takes place overnight or during a weekend when everyone can avoid walking on the carpet until dry.

How often should office carpet be extracted?

Areas of heavy traffic and doorways may require it every few months. We suggest having your full carpet cleaned once or twice a year. Vacuuming in between services does the most to maintain your carpet. We will suggest a schedule for you after the walkthrough.

Will all the stains come out?

The majority of spots and traffic lanes respond well to our cleaning methods, especially if they are addressed soon after they occur. Some stains, like bleach spots, set in dyes or stains that have been there for years, may lighten but not completely fade. We will advise you which ones before any cleaning.

Our carpet got wet from a leak. Can you clean it?

Carpet soaked by a leak, a flood or a sewage backup needs drying, and sometimes removal, before any cleaning. That's restoration work, and RCO's sister company RMO Mitigation & Restoration handles it at 248-845-0000.

How is carpet cleaning priced?

Based on the square footage of carpet, its condition and how frequently it is cleaned. The walkthrough is free. Your quote is given within 24 hours of the walkthrough.
