Janitorial quality control and inspections for Metro Detroit buildings

Janitorial quality control at RCO takes place when managers walk through the work area by area, compare what they see to the cleaning system we've written specifically for your building and correct any problems they find before you notice them. This is how RCO Cleaning audits buildings throughout Oakland, Wayne and Macomb counties. Give us a call at (248) 849-0000 to learn more.

Why RCO Cleaning's managers inspect every building

Commercial cleaning usually takes place after everyone leaves the building. So clients rarely see it take place. They see the outcome in the morning when they arrive. If a trash can is missed overnight, you hear about it by 9 a.m.

That's why RCO doesn't gamble with quality. On our very first website we said: "Our crew of managers constantly check the work that is done to ensure the highest standard." A manager walking the building experiences what you would if you were there. They can correct it before you even know it's there.

Inspections also reveal where a building's cleaning system needs adjusting: second visit for that restroom, day porter for that lobby, more frequent scrubbing for that floor. Walk your building with one of our managers before you hire us. Call (248) 849-0000.

What does a janitorial inspection cover?

Buildings are inspected per area by management using their written cleaning specification.

  • Entrances and lobbies

Door glass and push plates, entrance mats, floors, elevator doors and buttons: things a visitor first encounters.

  • Offices and work areas

All trash and recycling removed, cleared surfaces dusted, carpet vacuumed including the edges, dusted high and low.

  • Restrooms

All fixtures, mirrors, partitions clean, floors and drains cleaned, all dispensers restocked, no odors.

  • Break rooms and kitchens

Counters, sinks, tables and appliance fronts wiped clean, trash and recycling emptied.

  • Hard floors and carpet

No dull traffic lanes, scuffs, dingy edges or corners, no spots left in the carpet.

  • Touchpoints

Scheduled cleaning of door knobs, light switches, elevator buttons, hand rails and other frequently touched equipment.

What happens when something is missed?

  1. 01

You tell us, or we find it first

A phone call, message or note to your contact, or a manager's walkthrough, will bring it up.

  2. 02

    One contact takes it

You don't have to tell us twice. Your contact owns that problem until it's resolved.

  3. 03

    It gets fixed quickly

Management owns cleaning issues. They also own getting them resolved quickly.

  4. 04

The system changes if it needs to

If something repeatedly gets overlooked, we alter the checklist, the timing, or how the crew is trained so that it no longer happens.

  5. 05

    You hear back

We'll let you know when it's complete so you don't have to keep checking back.

What you can ask for

Inspections benefit you as well as us. You can request:

  • A walkthrough of your building with your manager
  • The checklist your building is cleaned to
  • A change to what is cleaned, how often or when
  • The name and number of the person responsible for your building
  • A conversation with the owners if a problem keeps coming back

Janitorial inspection questions

How often do managers check our building?

It depends on the size of the building, its occupancy and your contract. All buildings receive heightened scrutiny during the first weeks of a contract. Large buildings on contract may receive daily on-site management which includes a manager at the building each day. If you would like to schedule regular walkthroughs, just let us know and we'll make that happen on a schedule that suits your needs.

Can we walk the building with the manager?

Yes. In fact, we encourage it. Walking through the building together is the fastest way to ensure you both agree on what "clean" looks like throughout the building and catch anything that may need to be added to the checklist.

What if we're unhappy with the cleaning?

Call 248-849-0000 and let us know. Your contact will investigate and explain what we will do. If it's not resolved, ask for the owners.
