Restaurant cleaning is divided cleanly down the middle. The kitchen crew cleans and sanitizes food-contact surfaces, prep tables and cooking equipment because that work is considered food safety and falls to the kitchen staff. RCO cleans what weary closing crews tend to rush through: the dining room, the bar front, the restrooms, entrance and the floors.
Floors are where they connect. Grease gets tracked in on shoes from the kitchen to the dining room. It darkens the grout lines as it goes. A mop at closing mostly just pushes that film around. Machine scrubbing and periodic tile and grout cleaning lift it up, and a grease-free floor is less slippery.
Restrooms project your restaurant's reputation further than they ought to. When a guest sees an empty soap dispenser or dirty floor, they assume your kitchen looks the same. Nightly cleaning and restocking of your restrooms and periodic deep cleaning of fixtures and grout eliminates that concern.
We don't do everything. Hood and exhaust cleaning is a specialty service left to hood cleaning contractors, and we don't do it. Health inspections are a matter between the restaurant and the health department. Our job is to keep your front of house, restrooms and floors in good shape anytime a guest or inspector walks through the door.
What does a restaurant need from a cleaning company?
Cleaning after close
Many restaurants don't close until late. Our crews come in overnight, after your closing employees go home, and finish before your opening employees arrive.
Grease off the floors
Kitchen grease gets tracked into the dining room. It causes grout to become darker. Floors have to be machine scrubbed on a schedule to clean it up.
Restrooms guests trust
Restrooms clean, stocked and fresh each morning. People will judge your kitchen on them.
A clear line with the kitchen
A written scope outlining what kitchen staff will clean versus what RCO will clean so nothing gets missed and all food-contact surfaces remain with your staff.

Restaurant cleaning questions
Do you clean restaurant kitchen hoods and exhaust systems?
No. Hood and exhaust cleaning should be done by a hood cleaning contractor, which RCO is not. We clean the dining room, restrooms and floors throughout the restaurant. We also clean kitchen floors after all food and equipment has been put away.
Do you clean food prep surfaces and kitchen equipment?
No. Cleaning and sanitizing of food-contact surfaces, prep tables and cooking equipment is done by your kitchen staff for food safety purposes. We clean the floors and front of the house.
Will your cleaning help us with health inspections?
Restaurant inspections are between you and your local health department, but most of what they inspect is your kitchen and food handling. What we can help you with is maintaining clean and stocked bathrooms, floors and dining room when an inspector arrives.
What products do you use around food?
We use products suited to each surface, used according to their labels and kept away from food, dishes and prep surfaces. You have the right to request the Safety Data Sheet of each product we bring in. Please see our guide to commercial cleaning supplies and safety data sheets for what you are entitled to.
Who should I hire to clean my restaurant after close in Metro Detroit?
Contract with a janitorial service that documents what your kitchen employees clean and what the company cleans, and that will clean when your closing employees have gone home. RCO Cleaning provides restaurant cleaning services for dining areas, restrooms and floors throughout Oakland, Wayne and Macomb counties, even on weekends and holidays. We will give you a quote within 24 hours of a free walkthrough.
