Commercial carpet spot cleaning at no charge for large Metro Detroit buildings

Commercial carpet spot cleaning is included free with a cleaning contract for large buildings. That means coffee, ink and salt spots get treated before they become difficult to remove. A fresh coffee spill on Monday is no problem. Come Friday, it's a stain. RCO Cleaning will define what is included during a free walkthrough of your property in Oakland, Wayne and Macomb counties. Call (248) 849-0000.

Why does carpet spot cleaning matter in a large building?

Why does carpet spot cleaning matter? Imagine the carpet in a large building. Every day it experiences spills near the elevators, in conference rooms, under desks and tracked in from the parking lot. Coffee, soda, ink, salt. If you let it sit, a spot soaks into the carpet and grabs dirt and sets into the carpet fibers. If you treat a spot right away, most will come clean. It's all about timing.

For larger buildings under an RCO cleaning contract, carpet spot cleaning is included with your service at no additional charge. While crews are vacuuming they are watching for any new spots. Spots may also be pointed out by your front desk, building engineer or tenants. Each spot is treated with a solution appropriate for the stain and carpet, worked lightly (not damaging the carpet fibers) and then extracted. This process helps ensure the spot won't "wick" back up as it dries.

Spot cleaning is not complete carpet extraction. When traffic lanes go gray or an entire room requires cleaning, RCO offers a commercial carpet cleaning service performed by RCO with our own extraction equipment, and we will make recommendations for a regular schedule. Spot cleaning between these extractions will keep your carpet looking better until then.

What qualifies is set at the free walkthrough and written into your quote. Carpet soaked by a leak, a flood or a sewage backup is a different problem: it needs drying, not spot cleaning, and RCO's sister company RMO Mitigation & Restoration handles that work.

  • Spots treated early

The quicker a spot is treated, the better it looks when it comes out. Crews are treating spots as they are discovered instead of waiting until the next extraction.

  • Matched to the stain

Coffee, ink, salt and other stains get specific products suited to that kind of stain and carpet.

What does free carpet spot cleaning cover?

  • Spot checks while vacuuming

Custodians discover new spots and spills while vacuuming offices, hallways and common areas.

  • Spots you point out

Your front desk, building engineer or tenants can identify a spot, and it gets added to the crew's route.

  • Stain-matched treatment

Coffee, soda, ink, food and other stains treated with the proper product for stain and carpet fiber.

  • Salt rings near entrances

White salt rings around doors treated in winter and spring before they set.

  • Gentle agitation

Treatment from the outside-in allows spots to be treated without spreading stain or damaging pile.

  • Soil removal

Solution and loosened soil are removed by extraction or pulled back out of the carpet so the spot will not wick back up as it dries.

  • Straight answers on tough stains

Any stains that will remain after treatment are pointed out (bleach stains, old dye stains, etc.), so you know what to expect.

When spots get cleaned

This is a typical routine. Your walkthrough decides the actual one for your building.

  1. 1When a spot appears

Spills reported by staff or tenants are relayed to the crew and treated, ideally before they set.

  2. 2Every cleaning visit

Vacuuming uncovers new spots: office carpets, hallways, common areas.

  3. 3Through winter and spring

Salt circles by entrances receive added attention as salt is being brought in.

  4. 4When extraction is due

Spots and areas that exceed spot treatment are identified, and extraction is recommended as part of your cleaning plan.

Signs your carpet needs spot cleaning

  • Coffee and soda spots by elevators and break rooms
  • Ink and marks under desks and chairs
  • White salt rings near the doors
  • Spots that come back after they've been cleaned
  • Tenants pointing out stains in common areas

Carpet spot cleaning questions

Don’t see yours? Call 248-849-0000 and ask the people who will clean your building.

Which buildings get complimentary carpet spot cleaning?

Large buildings that fall under an RCO cleaning contract. Whether your building is eligible is determined at the free walkthrough and included in your quote. Tile and grout cleaning is also included when RCO has on-site staff.

Is spot cleaning the same as carpet cleaning?

No. Spot cleaning addresses individual spills and stains. Carpet cleaning (aka extraction) cleans entire areas using RCO's extractors to remove the soil left behind when vacuuming. Extraction is our commercial carpet cleaning service, quoted from the walkthrough.

Will every stain come out of the carpet?

Most spots will come out well, particularly if treated quickly. Some, such as bleach spots or old dyes and stains that have set for years, may lighten without disappearing. We'll identify these for you.

How do we report a carpet spot?

Tell someone on the RCO crew or your RCO manager. You can also call RCO at 248-849-0000. If your building has daily on-site management, telling the manager in your building will be the easiest method.

Our carpet got wet from a leak. Is that spot cleaning?

No. Carpet soaked by a leak, flood or sewage backup should never be cleaned until it is dried, and it sometimes needs removal first. That's restoration work, and RCO's sister company RMO Mitigation & Restoration handles it.
