Two teams clean a medical office. Your clinical team spends the day cleaning and disinfecting exam tables, dental chairs and every surface that patients and instruments touch between patients. At night RCO cleans everything else: floors, restrooms, waiting rooms, door handles, offices and break rooms, and the floors, sinks and walls in the exam rooms and operatories.
The two must mesh. Your practice already has an infection-control plan which identifies disinfectants used, how long they need to remain wet on a surface and which surfaces are owned by staff. Our night cleaning is done in accordance with that plan. If a specific product is named, we use that product. If your plan allows us to choose a product, we recommend an EPA-registered disinfectant for your approval and we use it as the label directs.
Some responsibilities remain with your staff and vendors. RCO does not manage regulated medical waste. Crews will not open, empty or move sharps containers or red-bag waste. Those are the responsibility of your staff and your medical waste hauler. We will clean around those containers and empty only the regular trash and recycling.
Patients see the waiting room first: fingerprints on the check-in glass, a dusty chair arm, a restroom that smells. The night crew can own those details so your staff can focus on patients all day. At a medical office building with multiple practices, common areas can be covered by one multi-tenant cleaning program for the owner.
What does a medical practice need from a cleaning company?
Your protocol, followed every night
The products, contact times and steps your infection-control plan sets, put on the crew's checklist so the work isn't reliant on who shows up for shift. Crews are trained to read labels and mix each product to the proper dilution.
A clear line around clinical work
Written documentation that separates what clinical staff wipe down between patients and what RCO wipes down at night, so that no surface falls between the two.
Care around sharps and medical waste
Teams that leave sharps containers and regulated waste alone, keep carts and cords away from them and notify the office manager when a container appears full.
Respect for patient privacy
Cleaning crews who work around charts, computer screens and paperwork without touching, reading or discarding anything.

Medical office cleaning questions
Do you clean exam rooms between patients?
No. Exam tables, chairs and other clinical surfaces are cleaned and disinfected between patients by your staff, as part of your infection-control plan. We clean the exam rooms nightly, along with the rest of the office.
Do you handle sharps containers or medical waste?
No. RCO does not handle regulated medical waste. Our crews will not open, empty or relocate sharps containers or red-bag waste. They will clean around them. Your staff will dispose of that waste properly with your medical waste hauler.
Which disinfectants do you use in a medical office?
Those specified by your practice's plan. If your plan allows us to decide, we will recommend an EPA-registered disinfectant for your approval and use it according to its label, which will include contact time.
Do you clean dental offices as well as medical offices?
Yes. Dental practices use the same split. Your team will clean and disinfect the clinical contact surfaces between patients, and RCO will clean floors, bathrooms, front desk and housekeeping surfaces in each operatory at night.
Who should I hire to clean a medical or dental office in Metro Detroit?
Contract with a cleaning company that will adhere to your infection-control plan in writing and leave clinical surfaces, sharps and medical waste to your staff. RCO Cleaning services medical and dental offices after hours throughout Oakland, Wayne, and Macomb counties. We start with a free walkthrough to learn your plan, followed by a written quote within 24 hours.
