Steam rising as a cleaner clears dark grout lines on white tile

Free commercial tile and grout cleaning for Metro Detroit buildings with an on-site team

Free commercial tile and grout cleaning is included with the contract when RCO Cleaning places an on-site team in a big building. They schedule restroom, kitchen and lobby tile into their days in the building so dark grout doesn't get pushed to a one-time project. What's included is determined at a free walkthrough in Oakland, Wayne and Macomb counties. Call (248) 849-0000.

Why does grout get dark, and how does an on-site team clean it?

Grout turns dark because it is porous. Each pass with a mop deposits a film of dirty water in the grout lines. Months of that and they grow dark. In bathrooms urine penetrates into the grout around toilets and urinals and becomes an odor reservoir. In kitchens it's grease. In lobbies it's salt and road grime dragged in from Michigan winters. You can mop and mop but never restore that original color.

Tile and grout cleaning removes that buildup. Flooring is pretreated with a cleaner specific to the soil present, then grout lines are agitated with brushes and floor machines. Loose soil is extracted so it doesn't stay on the floor and have a chance to dry back into the grout. Techniques are selected based on both tile type and grout, because some cleaners that won't hurt ceramic tile may etch natural stone.

If RCO has technicians already on-site at a big building under contract, then that service is provided to you free of charge. Teams already in the building know when each restroom has downtime, when the lobby is vacant and which kitchen floors receive the most grease buildup. That allows us to schedule tile and grout cleaning to fit the building's schedule, rather than creating a separate project just for you. Whether your building qualifies, and what areas will be covered, is determined at your no-cost walkthrough and outlined on your quote.

Cleaning can't fix grout that's cracked or missing, or tile soaked from a leak. Cracked or missing grout is a repair, and water damage is restoration work that RCO's sister company RMO Mitigation & Restoration handles. If that's what we find, we'll tell you.

  • Part of the on-site team's work

The team already in place for your building services tile and grout as part of their workload based on restroom and lobby traffic.

  • Grout cleaned out, not mopped over

Brushes and floor machines agitate grout. The dirty solution is extracted instead of soaking back in.

Why RCO Cleaning's on-site teams in Metro Detroit clean tile and grout

  • A team that knows the building

An on-site crew understands the building's quiet hours, so tile and grout work is scheduled around occupants. Call (248) 849-0000 to discover during a complimentary walkthrough if your building is eligible.

  • Equipment that does the work

RCO's floor machines and extractors agitate and lift soil. Advanced machines allow crews to work with fewer chemicals.

  • Checked by managers

RCO's managers check the floors, and missed areas are management's to fix quickly.

Tile and grout cleaning questions

Don’t see yours? Call 248-849-0000 and ask the people who will clean your building.

Which buildings get complimentary tile and grout cleaning?

Large buildings on an RCO cleaning contract that have RCO cleaning staff on site. Whether your building qualifies, and what tiled areas would be included, is determined at the free walkthrough and included in your quote.

What do you mean by an on-site cleaning team?

RCO cleaning staff that work at your building (versus a crew that comes based on a schedule then departs from the property). Whether your building has this is determined as part of the cleaning plan devised after the walkthrough.

Can the on-site team bring dark grout back to its color?

Often it can come very close, particularly if you have floors that have only ever been subjected to mop cleaning. If your grout has been stained for years, or colored by spills, it may lighten without completely returning to its original color. We will let you know what to expect at your walkthrough.

Should our grout be sealed after the on-site team cleans it?

Sealing can make some grout resistant to future staining. Whether or not this makes sense depends on the grout type, the room and how it will be used. We can discuss this during your walkthrough.

What if our building doesn't have an on-site team?

Our tile and grout cleaning service is still available through RCO, quoted from your free walkthrough. And every contract starts with a free deep cleaning, which includes detailed cleaning of restrooms.
