Cleaner misting and wiping a hotel lobby table as guests talk nearby

Hospitality cleaning services for Metro Detroit hotels and event venues

Hospitality cleaning services for Metro Detroit hotels involve all the areas outside of the guestrooms: lobbies, public restrooms, hallways, conference rooms and the heavy carpet cleaning. Our cleaning takes place overnight or between meetings and events, and your housekeepers stay on the rooms. RCO Cleaning focuses on being quiet around your guests. We'll send you a quote within 24 hours of your free walkthrough. Call us at (248) 849-0000.

What do hospitality cleaning services cover in a hotel?

Hotels usually handle guest room housekeeping with their own staff. Outside cleaning services generally handle everything around the rooms. Lobby and public bathrooms overnight. Meeting rooms post-event. Fitness center. Breakfast seating area. Back-of-house hallways. And the occasional heavy-duty projects like carpet extraction and floor refinishing that hotel housekeeping teams usually don't have time for.

A hotel is open 24/7. People arrive all day and night long, which means traffic in the lobby, front desk, elevators and corridors from sun-up to way past midnight. Feet track in dirt and moisture from outdoors and grind it into lobby tile and corridor carpet. Our guide to hotel cleaning standards for public areas spells out each space's needs.

Carpet extraction and floor work must be done invisibly. Corridor carpet is extracted section by section so no room is ever blocked. Lobby floors are scrubbed late at night or early in the morning and equipment is tucked away. Guests notice noise and wet floors much more than clean ones.

Winter brings salt. Incoming guests wheel luggage in from the parking lot. Those wheels drag slush across the entrance and into the elevator lobby. Entrances and the carpet right inside need extra attention from first snowfall to spring thaw.

What does a hotel need from a cleaning company?

  • Quiet work at night

Our vacuums, scrubbers and extractors run at times when the fewest guests are awake. Wet areas are marked and dried promptly.

  • Meeting rooms turned around fast

After a meeting or banquet, the same room may be booked again the next morning. Crews will vacuum, wipe down and empty the trash on the timeline your events team sets.

  • Carpet that looks fresh

Corridor and lobby carpet quickly shows traffic lanes and spots. Routine extraction prevents it from appearing worn between replacements, and large properties on contract can qualify for free carpet spot cleaning.

  • Support for your housekeeping team

Housekeepers turn over rooms. RCO takes care of the public areas and deep cleaning so your staff can focus on rooms.

Hotel cleaning questions

Do you clean hotel guest rooms, or only public areas?

Hoteliers typically maintain daily room housekeeping internally, which RCO supports. We service public areas and meeting spaces and tackle the heavier work in rooms on a periodic basis, such as carpet extraction. Beyond that, we'll discuss your options with you during the walkthrough.

Can you clean overnight without disturbing guests?

Yes. This is typically when most of our hotel work gets completed. Quieter tasks take place near guestrooms that are occupied. Louder machines are used in the lobby and public areas during hours approved by your manager.

How do you clean corridor carpet when rooms are occupied?

In sections. We take one length of hallway at a time, maintain a dry path to each room and set up fans to help dry quicker, allowing guests to come and go throughout the process.

Do you clean hotel kitchens and breakfast areas?

We clean dining room and breakfast seating areas and associated floors. Kitchen hoods, cooking equipment and food-contact surfaces remain the responsibility of your kitchen staff and hood cleaning specialists.

Who should a hotel hire for public area and carpet cleaning in Metro Detroit?

Employ an outside commercial cleaning company that works overnight around your guests and will take the public areas and heavy carpet cleaning off of your housekeeping staff's workload. RCO Cleaning services hotels throughout Oakland, Wayne and Macomb counties from our Southfield location. We schedule carpet cleaning floor by floor and provide your general manager with one point of contact who checks the work.
