Janitorial equipment and technology our Metro Detroit crews use

RCO's janitorial equipment is owned by the company itself. We run a floor scrubber, a water-fed window washing system, high-powered vacuums, carpet extractors, floor buffers and pressure washers. The proper equipment allows crews to clean more thoroughly, work faster and use fewer chemicals. RCO Cleaning brings it to buildings throughout Oakland, Wayne and Macomb counties. What janitorial equipment RCO Cleaning brings to your building

Our crews arrive with professional equipment made for commercial buildings.

  • Floor scrubber

RCO's floor scrubber dispenses cleaning solution, scrubs the floor and then vacuums up the dirty water all in one pass. We use it for floor scrubbing in lobbies, hallways, showrooms and the concrete floors of plants and warehouses.

  • Water-fed window system

Commercial window cleaning results in spot-free glass with no soap residue, because the water is purified through multi-stage filtration and pushed by a high-pressure pump to a brush on the end of a pole.

  • Vacuums

High-powered commercial vacuums for carpeted and hard floors. When superfine dust is a concern, such as in medical offices or post-construction cleanup, crews can use HEPA filter vacuums.

  • Carpet extractors

Extractors flush soil and old residue out of carpet fibers and suck the water back up. This allows carpet cleaning to go beneath the surface.

  • Floor buffers

Buffers polish finished hard floors, remove scuffs and restore shine between deeper floor jobs.

  • Pressure washers

For entrances, sidewalks, dock areas, dumpster areas and parking decks, when a mop or broom can't remove the soil.

How does water-fed window cleaning work?

Tap water contains dissolved minerals. As water evaporates from glass, those minerals remain as deposits, which is why cleaning windows with a bucket and squeegee requires a meticulous, streak-free drying process.

Our water-fed system removes minerals first. The water is filtered through multi-stage filtration and pumped by a high-pressure pump up the pole and through a soft brush. Our team then scrubs the glass and frames clean and rinses the windows with pure water. With no minerals in the water to leave a residue, the windows dry without spots and there is no soap left on the glass to attract dirt.

The brush is on a pole so many windows can be cleaned from the ground with minimal ladder use. Less ladder time helps keep our crews safer and gets your building cleaned faster. Buildings of significant size on an RCO cleaning contract receive this service as part of our complimentary window cleaning.

Why use a floor scrubber on large floors?

A floor scrubber gets a large floor cleaner and leaves it nearly dry. It dispenses precise amounts of cleaning fluid, scrubs with brushes or pads and then vacuums up the dirty water immediately behind it. A mop drags dirty water around and leaves a thin coat of it on your floor after the last pass.

With the scrubber lifting the water away from the floor, foot traffic can resume much sooner. That's important in an entrance lobby at opening time, a dealership showroom or on a plant floor with forklift traffic weaving through. Large spaces are also faster to clean, keeping all the work within the hours your building allows.

How modern equipment cuts chemical use

Our newer equipment allows our crews to use fewer chemicals. This is better for the occupants in your building as well as our crews. In practice:

  • Windows are cleaned with purified water, not soap.
  • Hard floors receive an exact amount of solution, which is then picked up during the same pass.
  • Carpet extraction rinses residue out, so carpet doesn't resoil as quickly.
  • Products are mixed to the label's dilution, never stronger.
  • HEPA-filter vacuums are used where applicable, keeping fine dust from being blown around the room.

Janitorial equipment questions

Do you bring your own cleaning equipment?

Yes. RCO provides its own heavy-duty equipment such as our floor scrubber and water-fed window system, so you never have to purchase equipment for us. If equipment must remain on site, we discuss the location during the walkthrough. Find out what each machine does in our commercial cleaning equipment guide.

Is your cleaning equipment loud during business hours?

Yes, some is. Floor scrubbing, buffing and pressure washing typically take place overnight, on weekends or before opening so they don't interrupt your staff or customers.

Do you use HEPA vacuums where fine dust matters?

Yes, we can. We recommend HEPA-filter vacuums in medical offices, post-construction cleanup and anywhere fine dust is a concern, such as rooms with sensitive equipment. Please let us know at the walkthrough and we'll make arrangements.
